【Taiwan Society for Interventional Radiology (TSIR) 2026 Winter Meeting at NCKUSuccessfully held at National Cheng Kung University. First of all, we sincerely thank Chairperson Chang Pi-yi and Secretary-General Lin Chun-yu for their trust, which gave us the opportunity to host this important academic event at NCKU.
This conference was honored to invite experts and scholars from major hospitals to share their clinical experience and the latest developments. We also especially thank TSIR Secretary Lan for her full assistance. The National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) team expressed their gratitude to Minister Liu Yi-sheng, Dr. Chang Chia-ming, Science Secretary Wei Kuei-hsiang, Group Leaders Chen Ching-wen, Lai Cheng-shih, and Wang Wei-hsun, Radiologist Liu Yi-shan, and many other partners for their invaluable assistance, which ensured the smooth and successful completion of the conference.
Regarding the domestic speakers, we thank Dr. Chien Ning and Dr. Huang Yu-cheng from National Taiwan University Hospital, Dr. Liu Chun-yen from Chi Mei Hospital, Dr. Hsu Yung from Miaoli Hospital, Dr. Hsu Yi-chih from Tri-Service General Hospital, and Dr. Lu Ping-sheng from Hsi-Yi Clinic for their excellent presentations. The NCKU team, represented by Minister Liu Yi-sheng, Dr. Lin Chia-ying, Dr. Huang Han-sheng, and the Bow Wang, M.D. system, shared their experience in imaging analysis and interventional treatment of the thoracic cavity, abdomen, and the musculoskeletal system, providing rich and practical content.
This conference featured a special guest speaker: Dr. Okuno, the founder of Transarterial Microembolization (TAME) from Japan. The course focused on the "US-guided simplified TAME." While its efficacy differs slightly from the conventional TAME in some anatomical locations, its rapid operation, simplified procedure, and lack of radiation exposure have led to approximately 188 clinics in Japan currently performing this procedure, according to Dr. Okuno.
However, as Bow Wang, M.D. pointed out in the discussion, this technology still requires further clinical research and long-term follow-up to further evaluate its indications, efficacy stability, and potential complications in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of its clinical application.
Overall, the TSIR 2026 Winter Conference not only promoted exchanges in the field of interventional radiology both domestically and internationally, but also laid a solid foundation for the future development and research of related technologies.
