I would like to thank Dr. Hsu Yi-Chih, Director of the Taiwan Society of Interventional Radiology (TSIR), Dr. Lin Chun-Yu, Secretary-General, and Dr. Chang Pi-Yi, President of the TSIR, for their invitation to give me the opportunity to share the clinical application of radiofrequency (RF) therapy in the pain management of osteoarthritis of the knee and hip at this joint conference of the Asian Conference on Tumor Ablation (ACCA 2025) and the TSIR Annual Meeting.
I am also very honored to co-chair this session with Professor Ji Hoon Shin from South Korea. This session focused on interventional pain management. Besides my sharing of the application of radiofrequency (RF) in osteoarthritis, Dr. Chih-Ying Wu from China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital presented her experience with water-cooled high-frequency thermocoagulation therapy for the sacroiliac joint. Professor Sang Woo Park and Dr. Hyeon Seung Hwang from South Korea shared their clinical results using KIPZA as a drug for Transarterial Microembolization (TAME) (Transarterial Microembolization, TAME).
Looking back, my motivation for starting TAME treatment in 2019 stemmed from attending the International Intensive Course of Interventional Radiology (IICIR) hosted by the Korean Society for Interventional Radiology (KSIR), where Professor Sang Woo Park introduced this innovative treatment method. After returning to Taiwan, I began my clinical practice and research on this treatment.
That evening, I also attended the KIPZA treatment experience sharing session hosted by Professor Sang Woo Park, co-organized by Yuanze Technology Co., Ltd. and the Korean manufacturer ENGAIN. I gave a presentation and exchanged ideas with experts from various countries, gaining valuable insights.
Both high-frequency thermocoagulation (RF) and Transarterial Microembolization (TAME) are commonly used interventional pain management techniques in clinical practice with Bow Wang, M.D.. This opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from experts from various countries was very beneficial, and I look forward to continuing to promote the clinical and research development in this field in the future.
