Thanks to the Taiwan Society for Proliferative Medicine, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Chi Mei Hospital, and Dr. Su Jiong-rui for their meticulous organization. We were especially fortunate to have two internationally renowned speakers—Dr. John Fullerton, former president of the American Association of Medical Research and Development (AAOM), and Dr. Stanley Lam, president of the Hong Kong Institute of Medical Research and MSKUS Asia—presenting a fascinating seminar on fascia during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, along with a live demo of examinations and treatments for two athletes.
The course content over the past two days has been incredibly rewarding. What impressed me most was that "fascia is not just a simple membrane structure, but an integrated network connecting the body's nerves, muscles, and blood vessels," and "the phenomenon of abnormal blood flow and an increase in abnormal vessels in the chronic scar area after surgery," which made me rethink the relationship between pain and blood flow regulation.
These observations may also indirectly explain why [Transarterial Microembolization (TAME), TAME] has the potential to improve the condition of some patients with postoperative chronic lower back pain—and may even slow the progression of subsequent fibrosis by reducing chronic muscle inflammation.

In addition to the excellent lectures and demonstrations by the speakers, exchanging treatment experiences and insights with the many experienced attendees was also incredibly beneficial. Learning and growing together is much faster and more comprehensive than working in isolation.

In addition, Bow Wang, M.D. will also share clinical experience in computed tomography (CT)-guided pain treatment and interpretation of lower back pain-related images at the Multidisciplinary Forum on Lower Back Pain held by the Taiwan Pain Medicine Association in Kaohsiung on November 16.
Bow Wang, M.D.'s areas of expertise, besides interventional treatment of pain in the spine, tendons, and joints, also encompass related medical imaging diagnosis and research. Therefore, medical imaging of osteoporosis and sarcopenia is also a topic of ongoing interest.
In particular, the relationship between fatty infiltration in paraspinal muscles and sarcopenia has gradually gained attention from the academic community. Bow Wang, M.D. also includes relevant literature at the end of the article for interested enthusiasts to further refer to and study.
