Successful Case Sharing of [Post-Traumatic Degenerative Ankle Arthritis with Bone Marrow Edema] [Transarterial Microembolization (TAME)] and [Intramedullary PRP Regenerative Injection]

Mr. C, 61 years old, suffered from left ankle pain for many years after an injury more than ten years ago. After seeking medical treatment, he was diagnosed with [traumatic degenerative ankle arthritis]. Although he underwent arthroscopic debridement and various injections, the pain persisted. Mr. C's pain index (out of 10) reached a high level of 10, requiring long-term use of painkillers and pain patches.

After Mr. C consulted with Dr. Liu Bingtang at the Qiao Li Clinic in Kaohsiung, he was referred to the National Cheng Kung University Hospital Interventional Medical Center and the Bow Wang, M.D. outpatient clinic for further discussion.

After discussing with Mr. C, Bow Wang, M.D. first performed the Transarterial Microembolization (TAME) procedure on him. Under X-ray fluoroscopy guidance and local anesthesia, Dr. Wang punctured the inguinal artery and inserted a microcatheter into the painful area. Then, under arterial angiography, contrast agent was injected to identify newly formed capillary-like vessels; embolizing medication was then injected through the microcatheter to remove these abnormal capillary-like vessels.
