This week, I was honored to be invited by Director Yang Zhengfeng of the Physical Therapy Center, NCKUH, and Chairman Liu Zhaowei of the Tainan Physical Therapists Association to introduce Transarterial Microembolization (TAME) and its applications and literature related to physical therapy.

Physical therapy is a medical profession that uses physical agents such as sound, light, water, cold, heat, electricity, and force, applying medical and physical principles to address movement and pain problems caused by illness or injury. Its scope includes health promotion, disease prevention, disease treatment, and rehabilitation for the disabled.

【Transarterial Microembolization (TAME)】is primarily used to treat chronic inflammation and pain lasting at least three months. It works by clearing disordered, proliferating microvessels to stop the destructive inflammatory response and induce apoptosis of associated pain nerves, thus achieving pain relief and anti-inflammation.

【Transarterial Microembolization (TAME)】is primarily used to stop the destructive inflammatory response. However, according to a literature review and presentation by Dr. Wang Yi-qian of Beyond Rehabilitation Clinic, 【proliferative therapy】restarts the repairing inflammatory response; their mechanisms and locations of action are different. Bow Wang, M.D. is now often combined with both therapies to treat patients with good results. However, motor function and pain problems are often 【results】 rather than 【causes】.

Besides treating the **damaged area**, it's crucial to identify and correct the **root cause of the injury**. For example, many shoulder pain cases involve not only lesions in the shoulder tissues but also issues with the scapula, cervical spine, or even the scapula itself. Furthermore, the stability, symmetry, and range of motion of the scapula are key assessment points. Therefore, in addition to using **Transarterial Microembolization (TAME)** to treat localized pain, expert evaluation and assistance in **rehabilitation** and **physiotherapy** are essential.

Therefore, the clinic of Dr. Okuno, the original creator of **Transarterial Microembolization (TAME)** in Japan, also has **physiotherapy** therapists who provide follow-up rehabilitation for patients after treatment.

Not only in Japan, but also in Spain, rehabilitation centers have reported remarkable results using [Transarterial Microembolization (TAME)] in combination with [rehabilitation] and [physical therapy] for frozen shoulder.
